Brian Kelleher Vs. Ricky Simon Reportedly Set For September UFC Event

2020 continues to be a big year for Brian Kelleher, as he is looking to stay as busy as possible. “Boom” is looking to add onto his recent run with another win.

According to MMA Fighting, Kelleher (21-11) will face off against Ricky Simon on September 5th. The bout will take place at the featherweight limit of 145.

Making his debut for the UFC in 2017, Kelleher is 5-4 with the promotion. A former Ring of Combat Bantamweight Champion, Kelleher has fought three times in 2020. He beat Ode Osbourne at UFC 246 in January before returning to featherweight in May. Kelleher beat Hunter Azure via knockout and then lost to Cody Stamann via unanimous decision at UFC 250 in June.

The 33-year-old would end up posting the matchup on social media:

Simon (16-3) is looking for his second win in a row. After having his eight-fight win streak snapped by Urijah Faber and losing to Rob Font, all in 2019, Simon rebounded this past May. He beat Ray Borg via split decision in one of the first UFC events in Jacksonville.

The September 5th card for the UFC will take place inside the UFC’s APEX Center. A heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Augusto Sakai is scheduled to be the main event.
