Britain’s Conway Shocks Arai In Paris Final

British Judoka, Sally Conway, shocked many this weekend when she pulled an upset victory over world champion Chizuru Arai in the U70kg final in Paris.

As initially reported by Inside The Games, Conway’s victory over Arai made her the first British woman to medal at the Paris Grand Slam since Sarah Clark took Silver in 1997, and the first Britton to medal since Craig Fallon in 2003.

“I don’t think it’s even really sunk in yet,” said Conway.

After defeating native favorite Marie Eve Gahie in the semi-finals, Conway was able to defeat Arai with 20 seconds to go.
