Broner Cited for Misdemeanor Battery
Adrien Broner continues to linger in boxing headlines for all the wrong reasons. Days after Broner posted troubling statements on social media suggesting he was considering suicide, the boxer has been cited for misdemeanor battery.
According to a report from TMZ, Broner has been accused of choking a waitress in a Las Vegas nightclub. It is not the first violent offense Broner has been accused of, as he allegedly attacked a man in Cincinatti earlier this year. Those charges were dropped when the accuser failed to show up to court.
Last week, Broner posted a series of pictures and statements on his social media accounts that suggested he was considering suicide. One of those posts included an image of a gun.
Broner, 27, was said to have been invited to Floyd Mayweather’s mansion to clear his head following the suicidal comments were made.
Broner last fought in April, when he beat Ashley Theophane. He has been rumored to a potential fight with Ricky Burns in December, but it is unclear what impact this new legal issue will have on his fighting future.
