Broner Out Of December 2nd Fight With A Hand Injury

Adrien Broner has pulled out of his fight with Chris Howard on December 2nd, 2023 after Dong King confirmed that the fighter had aggravated an injury to his hand.

The news is a massive setback for the four-division world champion after his recent win over William Hutchinson in June. Instead, Ian Green vs Vaughn Alexander will be the new headline event. Broner’s win came after he had been away from the sport for more than three years after battling mental health and alcohol problems. After the win, Broner made it clear that he was targeting a world title at 140 pounds as he called out Regis Prograis and Rolando Romero. Despite the latest setback, Broner was looking to return in February to target those big fights.

“The hell with tune-up fights. I’m ready to take on any of the champions in the 140- and 147-pound division. I’m ready to fight the big guys. Everything they think I don’t have, I still got. I’m ready to fight Ryan Garcia or, Rolando Romero or the winner of the Regis Prograis—Devin Haney fight,” Broner

Getting a world title shot so quickly will be a challenge. However, one thing in Broner’s favor is the fact that the fighter is a controversial figure. And that will naturally help to sell a fight in light of suggestions that the fighter is no longer the same. After all, Broner has only fought three times in four years, leaving boxing fans with plenty to say.
