Broner vs. Selby Reportedly Set For Fall Showdown
A fight between boxers in two weight classes has been negotiated to take place in the fall. Welterweight Adrien Broner will reportedly face featherweight Lee Selby.
Broner (33-4-1) has not won a bout since beating Adrian Granados back in 2017. Since then, he has lost to Mikey Garcia, fought to a draw with Jessie Vargas and lost to Manny Pacquiao. That last fight, a one-sided affair, took place this past January for Pacquiao’s WBA Welterweight Title.
Selby (27-2) beat Omar Douglas via unanimous decision in February. It was a rebound fight following his second loss against Josh Warrington last May. A former IBF Featherweight Champion, Selby defended the title successfully four times before losing it to Warrington.
Negotiations are currently in place to determine what weight both fighters will compete at. Broner has been known to miss the weight limit prior to many fights he has been in. He has also competed in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions. Selby has only fought once above his normal weight.
