Broner-Vargas Draws 869K On Showtime
Even though there was no clear winner in the ring on Saturday night, the clash between Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas was a clear ratings winner for Showtime.
Nielsen Media Research revealed Tuesday that Broner’s majority draw with Jessie Vargas was watched by a peak audience of 869,000 and averaged 782,000 viewers for Showtime
While Broner may not reach the same peak of his fight against Mikey Garcia from 2017 (937K peak, average audience of 881,000), it did match his split-decision win over Adrian Granados 859K peak, average 779K).
The polarizing Broner’s previous fight – a 12-round, unanimous-decision defeat to Mikey Garcia on July 29 – drew a peak viewership of 937,000 and an average viewership of 881,000. Five months earlier, Broner’s split-decision victory over Adrian Granados also produced strong ratings (peak: 859,000; average: 779,000).
Also on the card for Showtime on April 21st, was Jermall Charlo’s second round knockout of Hugo Centeno Jr, which reached a peak of 572,000 viewers and an average of 545,000 viewers.
