Budd To Defend Title Against Rubin In July

Following Bellator 218 from Thackerville, Oklahoma last weekend, Bellator has announced that Julia Budd will defend her featherweight title in the Viacom owned organization’s return to the Winstar World Casino and Resort on Friday July 12th.

The Canadian born champion will defend her title for a third time against undefeated Olga Rubin on the Paramount Network, in Budd’s first fight since her Bellator 202 win against Talita Nogueira in July of 2018.

While Budd would have gone just about a year without a fight, the Port Moody, British Columbia native has gone 10 straight fights with a victory, with her last loss coming at the hands of Ronda Rousey in 2012 when both were competing for the now-defunct Strikeforce.

This will mark Rubin’s third appearance inside the Bellator cage, most recently taking a unanimous decision victory from Iony Razafiarison at Bellator 217.
