Burns Pulled From UFC Orlando Due To Weight Cut

Even though it is two days away from UFC on FOX 28’s weigh-ins, and four days away from UFC on FOX 28 from Orlando, the UFC medical staff has cancelled a fight due to a potentially unsafe weight cut.

Per a report from MMA Mania, the lightweight fight between Gilbert Burns and Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Burns has been pulled and not allowed to compete on Sunday.

“Upon his arrival, the UFC medical team determined that it would be unsafe for Burns to cut additional weight necessary to meet the 156-pound limit,” UFC said in its official release. “The card will proceed as scheduled with twelve fights.”

There is no word as of yet, if either Burns or Mercier will receive their show money, or if the fight will be placed on a future card.
