Caldwell-Horiguchi Rematch Signed For MSG

After coming up on the losing end this past December, Darrion Caldwell brings Kyoji Horiguchi to his turf, as the two face off at Bellator 222.

Initially reported by MMA Fighting, RIZIN’s Horiguchi will make his way to Madison Square Garden in a battle for Caldwell’s Bellator bantamweight title on June 14th at Madison Square Garden.

Horiguchi retained his Rizin title when the two faced off at Rizin 14, stopping Caldwell in the third round with a guillotine choke, in the midst of a 12-fight win streak that continued in a catchweight win against fellow UFC allum Ben Nguyen at Rizin 15.

This will mark Caldwell’s first fight since the December loss to Horiguchi, which pumped the breaks on a four fight winning streak for Caldwell.

The fight between Caldwell and Horiguchi joins the light heavyweight main event between Lyoto Machida nad Chael Sonnen, Heather Hardy and Dillon Danis’ return to the Bellator cage.

A semi-final fight in the Bellator welterweight world grand prix between Neiman Gracie and Rory MacDonald is also booked for the Garden, but is up in the after MacDonald was handed a prohibitive 180 day medical suspension for injuries suffered at Bellator 220.
