Caleb Plant could face Canelo Alvarez once again after the former IBF super-middleweight champion hinted that a rematch could happen.
During their encounter in 2021, Plant put on a brave performance as he almost went the distance with the eventual undisputed champion. However, he came up short as the Mexican stopped him in the eleventh round to take all the belts at 168.

Since then, Plant has attempted to get back into big time boxing. However, another loss followed in a major fight. Despite going the distance with David Benavidez, Plant lost via a unanimous decision. But given that Plant has been competing against the big names, a rematch with Canelo would provide him with the opportunity to become a great.
“That’s what I’d like. I’ve let my management know what I want, and that’s what I want. I’m saying it here live. That’s what I want, but you can’t force anyone to get in there and fight. He’s got whatever he’s got going on.But I’m free at the end of the year.
“That’s what I want to do, but it takes two to tango. Canelo’s style has changed over the years, but I don’t want to get into that. I’m pretty close to having a rematch. It’s never good to correct your enemies. I’m going to let him do his thing, and I’m sure we’ll meet up soon,” Plant
Nevertheless, facing Plant would do nothing for Canelo’s legacy. The latter has already beaten the American, while bigger fights with Benavidez, Terence Crawford and Dmitry Bivol are potentially available. But one thing that Plant and Canelo have shown is their tendency to fight anyone. And there is no getting away from that.
