Campbell Hopes For Lomachenko Fight In 2018
While no opponent has been announced for Vasyl Lomachenko’s next fight on May 12th. Fellow Olympic gold medalist, Luke Campbell, is more than interested in a fight with Lomachenko in 2018.
Cambpell, in a story published by SKY Sports, claims that there has been talk between he and Top Rank, Lomachenko’s promoters for a three-fight co-promotion deal, which would include a fight with the Ukranian star.
“This is a massive fight. He’s a two-time Olympic champion, I’m Olympic champion. He’s a world champion, but I want that world title as well,” said Campbell.
“A fight between me and him, I’m definitely up for. I love a challenge and I think it would be a great fight.”
With Lomachenko and Linares still rumored to face off on May 12th at Madison Square Garden, Campbell may end up on the undercard for that event.
Campbell is also looking at a potential rematch with Linares, who defeated him in September of 2017, and the other man who defeated him, Yvan Mendy.
“If you put Lomachenko out the window for a second, for me, my first two biggest fights I want, I want to clean my record. I want Mendy. I need to clean that loss. I want Linares. I need to clean that loss, and it’s two fights I’m certainly capable, confident that I can beat.
