Campbell-Mendy Agree To WBC Title Eliminator

Luke Campbell and Yvan Mendy have agreed to face off against one another in a WBC lightweight title final eliminator, later this year.

While there is no official information regarding a purse bid, lead promoter, or location, Campbell will look to avenge his 2015 loss to Mendy in London.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said: “The WBC has been notified that Luke Campbell and Yvan Mendy have reached an agreement for their highly anticipated rematch – final elimination.”

“I want to clean Mendy off my record,” Campbell told Boxing Scene this week.

“That Luke Campbell should never have got in the ring that night,” he told Scene before revealing he had picked up a virus in the final week.

Mendy is in the midst of a ten fight winning streak stretching to their December 15th battle, with Campbell winning five fights until losing to Jorge Linares in September of 2018.

The winner is set to face off WBC champion Mikey Garcia, unless he loses his rumored unification fight with IBF titlist Robert Easter Jr.
