Can Terence Crawford Fight Josh Taylor In Early 2022?

Top Rank boss Bob Arum has indicated fixing a super fight between Terence Crawford and Josh Taylor this year.

Crawford parted ways with Top Rank last November after a historic win over Shawn Porter. He decided not to extend his contract with the promotion again.

It was rumored that the boxer was cross with Arum for not giving him a fight against Errol Spence Jr.

Nonetheless, Arum is hopeful that Crawford may sign up again if he is offered to take on Josh Taylor.

“Well, as far as Terence Crawford is concerned, it’s natural. We’ll come up with the best deal, and he’s used to dealing with us. I’m sure it’ll be acceptable to him,” Arum said.

“For example, if we have him fight Josh Taylor and Josh Taylor comes up [to 147], and we make it advantageous economically for Crawford and Taylor, he’ll [Terence] go with that.”

The veteran promoter, who has been in the business ever since Muhammad Ali made it big, is okay with Crawford if he chooses another promotion after becoming a free agent.

“Now, if someone comes up with the [Errol] Spence fight and they’re offering him a lot of money, he’ll go with that. There’s nothing wrong with that,” Arum continued.

“People get kind of crazy because in this era, there are long-term contracts and then, ‘Well, he’s left you and so forth.’ No, he’s finished his contract. He’s done his contract, and he’s earned what he was supposed to learn.”
