Canelo Alvarez Heaps Praise On Top Boxers Including Terence Crawford
Canelo Alvarez is singing the praises of some elite boxers and Terence Crawford is included.
Depending on the list, Canelo is often seen as the number one or number two pound-for-pound boxer in the world. Those who place Canelo in the number two spot, likely have Crawford topping the list. Canelo is the WBA, WBC, and The Ring Super-Middleweight Champion, while Crawford holds the WBO Welterweight gold.
During an interview with BoxingScene.com, Canelo reveals his choices for top pound-for-pound boxers in the modern era.
“Terence Crawford, Teofimo Lopez, Naoya Inoue. It’s hard to pick one. I enjoy watching Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, Vasiliy Lomachenko, and Lopez.”
Canelo will be taking on WBO Super-Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders this Saturday night, May 8. Canelo discussed the importance of representing Mexico on Cinco De Mayo weekend.
“It’s very important for me to be fighting on Cinco De Mayo week again. I’m proud to represent Mexico on Cinco de Mayo. It’s really important for me to be fighting on that date.
“I just want to make my own history. The Canelo history, and that’s it. There’s going to be only one Julio Cesar Chavez. Only one Salvidor Sanchez. Only one Erik Morales. And only one Canelo Alvarez in the history of boxing.”
