Canelo Alvarez Teases Major News
Boxing megastar Canelo Alvarez has made quite the tease.
Alvarez hasn’t stepped inside the boxing ring since November 2, 2019. He defeated Sergey Kovalev via knockout in the 11th round to capture the WBO Light-Heavyweight Championship. Canelo decided to vacate the title as he planned to move back down to super-middleweight.
Canelo soon found himself in a legal battle with sports streaming platform DAZN and Golden Boy Promotions. He was seeking $280 million in damages and the ability to break free from his contracts. Canelo ended up being freed from his deals.
Now that he is a free agency, many expect Canelo to return to the ring soon. He has released a video teasing an announcement.
👀 Canelo Alvarez has declared that he will be making an announcement at 11pm UK time tonight: "The pound-for-pound king is back."

It had been reported that Canelo is set to fight WBA (Super) Super-Middleweight Champion Callum Smith in December. Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn claimed that nothing has been signed yet but he did say that talks were ongoing.
Canelo holds the Regular version of the WBA Super-Middleweight Title. While the WBC has approved a bout between Canelo and Avni Yildirim, there has been very little indication that this is the direction Canelo wants to go next. At first, Caleb Plant seemed to be a frontrunner but a deal couldn’t be made.
