Canelo Alvarez Thinks Anthony Joshua Knocks Tyson Fury Out
Top boxing star Canelo Alvarez believes Anthony Joshua would stop Tyson Fury.
Joshua vs. Fury is one of the most highly-anticipated matchups in boxing. While the bout isn’t official, Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn feels it’s close to becoming a reality. Joshua is the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO Heavyweight Champion. Fury holds the WBC gold.
If the bout comes to fruition, Canelo thinks it’ll be Joshua who emerges victorious. Here’s what he told Sky Sports (via The Sun).
“AJ wins by late stoppage. AJ has that raw power which will make Fury think about boxing him more than beating him up. As Joshua gets his second wind in the later rounds, that’s when he’ll land a shot on Fury and knock him out.”
Joshua was last seen in action on December 12. He successfully defended his gold against Kubrat Pulev. “AJ” scored the ninth-round knockout win inside the SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England.
As for Fury, he hasn’t been inside the ring since his February title win against Deontay Wilder. “The Gypsy King” earned the championship by stopping Wilder in the seventh round via TKO. Fury’s team claims that Wilder’s rematch clause has expired but “The Bronze Bomber” is taking legal action to prove otherwise.
Canelo had a recent title win and could already be gearing up for a defense. He turned in a stellar one-sided showing against Callum Smith to capture the WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring Super-Middleweight Titles. He is expected to put his gold up for grabs against Avni Yildirim in February 2021.
