Canelo Alvarez Welcomed To Undisputed Club, Says He’ll Make His Return In May
Canelo Alvarez has been welcomed to the undisputed club.
This club is pretty exclusive. Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KOs) became the sixth undisputed champion in men’s boxing and the first four-belt super middleweight world champion in boxing history after his knockout win over Caleb Plant (21-1, 12 KOs) Saturday night.
Fellow undisputed champion Josh Taylor welcomed the Mexican sensation to the club. Taylor is the unified junior welterweight champion.
“Canelo was excellent tonight. Welcome to the club #UNDISPUTED,” he wrote.

Now retired boxing legend Manny Pacquiao also congratulated Alvarez on the historic victory.
“Congratulations to the pound for pound king, @canelo, on making boxing history as the first undisputed super middleweight champion ever. Plant put up a great fight but Canelo is just too good. Boxing is in great hands,” Pacquiao tweeted.

The boxing world will have to soak in Alvarez’s win for a while. The boxer said he’ll need some time to rest and it’ll be a few months before he returns to the ring.
“In May, because my body needs rest. I need to rest. I need to recover,” he said. “So, it’s probably gonna be May when I come back.”
