Canelo Alvarez’s Nephew Wins Second Pro Fight In A Row

Johan Alvarez, the nephew of veteran multi-division champ Canelo Alvarez, is making waves in professional boxing. The youngster won his second pro boxing match in a row against Owen Rodríguez on Friday. Although, Johan was fighting in his opponent’s backyard at Grand Hotel Tijuana, that did not stop him from claiming a clean KO win.

Rodriguez’s cornermen continued to intimidate Johan with jibes aimed at his connection with Canelo. “He’s nothing more than the last name, he doesn’t bring anything, he’s just a last name,” they chanted.

However, the Guadalajara-based featherweight turned a blind eye to every noise and all it took was the first round for the young Alvarez to send his opponent down to the canvas with a strong left hook.
The young man remained humble after adding another KO win to his tally. He thanked his team and acknowledged how spending his time in the gym to train diligently is helping him overwhelm others fighters with ease.

“I am grateful to my training team (Chepo Reynoso and Marcelo Lopez), with my father (Gonzalo Alvarez), for their support and trust, with the promoter (Bx Rumble Boxing) for giving me the opportunity to see action before a crowd of beautiful fans in a place like Tijuana,” Johan said after the victory.
