Canelo Alvarez, the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world, dabbles in trash-talk every now and then, and when he does, it’s generally entertaining. Canelo and Conor McGregor engaged in a Twitter back-and-forth that stemmed from McGregor reposting and sharing his thoughts on a video highlight of the Mayweather vs Canelo fight. McGregor complimented Canelo but took a subtle shot along the way.
One of the greatest performances in Professional Boxing this was. I landed more shots on Floyd than Canelo.
I’d love another go. https://t.co/Abfx7Pcpze— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) October 17, 2023
Canelo welcomed the jab and countered with his thoughts on how a fight between McGregor and himself would look.
I just need one hand with you and I don’t need to throw so many punches 🤣 https://t.co/Iq8GQ1nI3L

Conor laid the bait and Canelo took it, which prompted a heated reply from Conor. This is common practice from the UFC star on social media, as he has beefed with numerous fighters across boxing and MMA.
Saul you uncooked chicken, I’ll stomp the ligaments out of your knee joint. I don’t even need hands to end you, I’ll kick you raw pink, leave you looking like you were left out in the sun too long haha freckle arse. I will see you and we will see. Canelo is a cornflake, no sugar.

The back and forth continued with Canelo responding with another light jab, and Conor acting as an aggressor in his war of words. This is the type of banter that generally is used to support the promotion leading into a super fight. Based on Conor’s closing response, one could surmise that is where he wanted to take this, but Canelo did not take that bait, and we were left with Conor getting the last word.
Canelo you are no draw to me,I don’t watch your matches. Showtime gone so bye canelo hahaha the Paul’s out sell you. Now grow some balls and fight for real cos nobody cares about the same old thing they have seen over and over. Or sit on sofa and wait for the real men to finish. pic.twitter.com/rBMA61xIsQ

McGregor has recently put the wheels in motion to gear up for a UFC return, though no date has been set, while Canelo has his eyes looking towards Cinco de Mayo 2024 for his next bout.
All eyes will be on David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade on November 25, as that is a fight that most boxing fans will be looking toward for a future Canelo opponent.
