Canelo: Cruiserweight Is Crazy, Right?

With a win on November 2nd, Canelo Alvarez makes history with his fourth world title in as many weight classes, but where would he go from here?

Discussing his options at Wednesday’s press conference, Alvarez, who faces Sergey Kovalev for the WBO light heavyweight championship, believes there may be room for a fifth weight class.

“Obviously, cruiserweight. It sounds very crazy, but you never know,” Alvarez told a reporter.

“Currently, my only motivation is November 2, Kovalev,” Alvarez said who currently holds titles at middleweight and super middleweight.

“Right now, I don’t see anything else in the future. The only thing that I see is what I have in front of me now. And later on, I’ll see what motivates me to go to 168 or 160, or to have another [fight] at 175.”

“Let’s see,” Alvarez said of what is next for him. “I still don’t know. But I have to go back to my weight again.”
