Moving down in weight can be rough on any combat sports athlete. For Canelo Alvarez, it was just another day. At one point at 168 for super-middleweight gold, Canelo will be dropping down weight once again to meet Daniel Jacobs.
Canelo moved up to beat Rocky Fielding for the WBA World Super-Middleweight Title inside Madison Square Garden back in December. While there is a rehydration clause in the contract between the two fighters, Canelo believes that the weight cut won’t affect him.
“I feel great,” Alvarez stated “This is my weight class. I feel comfortable at this weight class. We had the right sparring. We had the hard work, as always, and I feel really good right now.”
