Canelo-GGG Earns 3rd Highest Gate In Vegas History
While the result of the much anticipated middleweight match-up between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin was a disappointment, the gate numbers were a very welcomed piece of news.
Boxing reporter Jake Donovan confirmed with the Nevada Athletic Commission that the September 16th pay-per-view main event pulled in a live gate of just over $27 million, third all time in the state of Nevada. The only fights above Canelo and Golovkin were Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao (approx. $72.2 million) and last month’s Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor (approx. $55.5 million).
(Corrected) Still waiting on PpV numbers but #CaneloGGG live gate was $27,059,850 from 17,318 tix sold, 3rd largest $$ in NV boxing history
