Canelo Alvarez plans to celebrate Mexican Independence Day by squaring off with Edgar Berlanga in Las Vegas, but it appears he will be competing for viewership with UFC 306, aka Riyadh Season Noche UFC.
Both events are set for September 14th, with the Canelo-Berlanga bout planned to occur at the T-Mobile Arena, and Noche UFC Nearby at the Las Vegas Sphere. Despite the notoriety that the UFC event brings by celebrating Mexican Independence Day for the second year in a row, coupled with being the Sphere’s first combat sports event, Canelo does not seem worried about losing out on viewership by fighting on the same night.
In a recent interview making the rounds on social media, Canelo touched on the subject, and explained that given his fan base, there is no threat.
