Canelo Alvarez has warned Jermell Charlo that his previous comments will come back to haunt him.
As the fight approaches closer, both men will be going through their final preparations for the undisputed clash at 168 pounds on September 30th, 2023. Canelo will defend all his belts against Charlo, who will jump up from junior middleweight in a battle of two undisputed champions. The Mexican had been linked with fighting the Charlo brothers throughout his career, with both boxers not having the best view of the four-division champion. Most recently, Jermell highlighted Canelo’s trouble with boxers who could move around the ring, possibly hinting at Dmitry Bivol’s win over the Mexican.
“When Canelo gets a little frustrated, he gets careless. He’s ready for the fight to just be over with. He don’t like motherf—— that move a lot,” Charlo
But that lack of belief in his skills is what Canelo is using for motivation as he promised to make Charlo pay.
“I think Jermell Charlo is the perfect fight right now. He’s been calling me out for a long time and I never forget. He’s said a lot of things. He never believed in my skills, but he’s gonna find out soon. Him and his brother didn’t believe in my skills and that motivates me for this fight,” Canelo
There have been suggestions that Canelo’s hunger may not be the same. He has been pictured playing golf, and there are suggestions that the boxer has been drinking. Although there are doubts over Alvarez’s current form, September 30th provides an opportunity to silence the critics on the biggest stage, leaving neither fighter with any excuses come fight night.
