Canelo Vs. Mbilli Postponed

The scheduled September 12 clash between Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) and WBC super middleweight champion Christian Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) in Riyadh has been postponed, with a late October date in the same city now being targeted.

Canelo has not fought since suffering a defeat to Terence Crawford in an undisputed super middleweight title fight last September. Mbilli was elevated from interim to full WBC champion at 168 pounds following Crawford’s retirement, and a deal with Canelo came together quickly as the Mexican star looked to reclaim world title hardware. A new official date is expected to be confirmed soon given the relatively short window remaining before late October, though no reason was given for the postponement.
