Canelo’s Next Fight Reportedly A Done Deal

Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) is reportedly set to return to the ring on September 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with WBC super middleweight champion Christian Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) emerging as his opponent in what has been billed as a “Mexico vs The World” event.

Both men enter the fight on the back of disappointing outings on the same night. On September 13, 2025, in Las Vegas, Canelo suffered a loss to Crawford, which cost him his undisputed super middleweight title. Following Crawford’s retirement last December, the belts were vacated, one of which was picked up by Mbilli. Mbilli was upgraded from interim WBC champion to the full champion, despite securing a draw with Lester Martinez on the undercard. With Canelo facing an undefeated Mbilli, the Mexican faces a tough test. However, a win secures him a world title with chances of more lucrative paydays. The card will also debut Canelo Promotions.
