Canelo Alvarez’s sparring video for his upcoming fight with Jermell Charlo on September 30th, 2023, has been leaked.
The Mexican puts his undisputed titles at 168 on the line against Charlo, who will move up two-weight divisions in a battle of two undisputed champions.
Alvarez is the heavy favorite, given the huge difference in weight, although Charlo is the taller man.
And yet, having footage leaked is the last thing that the Mexican will need for his training preparations.
In the video, Canelo can be seen using his left hook with power as a way to counter his opponent.

The emphasis on power suggests that Alvarez will not be looking to go the distance but slow down Charlo before stopping him.
After all, Alvarez has slowed down in the latter parts of his recent fights. This was notable in Canelo’s performance, particularly against John Ryder, as the Mexican failed to knock him out.
Nevertheless, the leak has to be taken with a pinch of salt. There is no way of knowing whether the footage was intentionally released in an attempt to set a certain narrative over the fight.
And in any event, Canelo’s plan will become clear come fight night.
