Canelo Alvarez’s latest training footage for Jermell Charlo shows the undisputed super-middleweight champion focusing on his power.
Much has been said about the weight difference in the run-up to the fight on September 30th, 2023.
Charlo will jump up from 154 pounds to try and create history by becoming undisputed in two weight classes.
Although Charlo is the taller man, the Mexican is considered the heavy favorite. And by the looks of the training, Canelo is keen on using his advantages.
In the footage, Canelo can be seen loading up on his power shots including hooks and uppercuts, showing the intention to inflict damage on Charlo.
Although that may be the case, Charlo’s speed and athleticism may negate those attributes, provided that the additional weight does not slow him down.
And given that Canelo has shown in his last few fights a tendency to slow down in the later rounds, Alvarez will have to get the balance between power and stamina just right.
And this was the sentiment being expressed on social media

Dude only trains throwing a hooks and uppercuts and power shots. This why his stamina been terrible in fights lately. Relies on his power too much
