Carlos Ulberg Earns 205-Pound Title Over Jiri Prochazka At UFC 327

In Carlos Ulberg’s 10th straight UFC victory on Saturday night in Miami at UFC 327, the New Zealander earned the light heavyweight title by overcoming the unorthodox striking of former champion Jiri Prochazka.

This match lived up to the potential for Ulberg’s biggest test in will as the new titleholder sustained an injury to his knee early in the fight, which was clearly going to affect his longevity through the bout. Ulberg was obviously wise to this, as he began to look for an opportunity to end things early.

it didn’t take long for Ulberg to capitalize on the right opportunity as he delivered a picture perfect check left hook that caught his opponent off guard and dropped him to the canvas. From there, Prochazka tried to survive, but the onslaught of grounded strikes was too much to defend and the referee was forced to intervene and stop the action in the very first round.
