Carlos Ulberg To Replace Khalil Rountree Vs. Jamahal Hill At UFC 303

The news of Khalil Rountree’s failed drug test put UFC 303’s co-main event at risk of a serious drop in quality, but luckily it seems Carlos Ulberg will step in to square off with former light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill.

UFC 303 will take place from the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas on June 29th. The Main event will feature the long-awaited welterweight contest between the returning Conor McGregor, and former bellator champion Michael Chandler, with Hill versus Ulberg competing in the 205-pound co-feature.

While this fighter swap based on the Rountree’s injury has not been made official by the promotion just yet, it was reported by MMA Junkie that anonymous individuals that are close to the situation have vocalized the announcement will be coming soon.

Ulberg is 10-1 in his professional career, and has been victorious in his last 6 UFC performances. Most recently, the New Zealand native stopped Alonzo Menifield with punches just 12 seconds into their bout on May 11th. Given the quick nature of the bout, having a turn around time of less than two months does not seem to be a concern.

Of course, Hill will be looking to rebound following his UFC 300 main event title loss to Alex Pereira, in which the Brazilian swiftly took care of business in just over 3 minutes.

The festivities of UFC 303 will get started on June 2nd, with the first press conference scheduled to go down at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.
