Carvalho Out, New Bellator 168 Headliner

December 10th marks a huge day of MMA, boxing and kickboxing action. UFC 206 suffered a big hit with the loss of its original main event — Daniel Cormier defending the light heavyweight title against Anthony Johnson — and now it appears Bellator has suffered a hit of its own.

Bellator 168, the MMA portion of the organization’s double MMA and kickboxing event in Italy, was scheduled to be headlined by a middleweight title bout between champion Rafael Carvalho and Melvin Manhoef. However, that bout is no longer happening, as Carvalho has been forced off of the card due to an injury. The two had previously met at Bellator 155, with Carvalho winning via split decision, and this was to be the anticipated rematch.

Joey Beltran and Italian fighter Alessio Sakara will now be competing in the new Bellator 168 main event.
