Case Officially Signs With PFL
After an initial report on New Year’s Eve, UFC and RIZIN vet Johnny Case has signed with the PFL.
Initially reported by ESPN and confirmed by MMA Fighting, the lightweight has signed to compete in the organization’s third season which will begin in the Spring of this year.
This is not Case’s first time fighting under the PFL’s season system, as an alternate fighter along with Jason High to replace Brian Foster and Ramsey Nijem. The short-notice fight ended up not happening due to High missing weight allowing Case walking into the lightweight playoffs by a “walkover.”
Case went the distance with Natan Schulte in his only PFL fight to date in the opening round of the PFL Playoffs. The decision would be a two-round majority draw, that saw Schulte advancing to the next round due to the PFL’s tiebreaker that see a winner decided by the judges’ overall decision.
After the loss to the eventual 2018-2019 PFL champion at lightweight, Case fought in RIZIN, winning three straight fights by stoppage before being stopped himself by Tofiq Musaev in the semifinals of the RIZIN Lightweight Grand Prix on New Year’s Eve.
