The Olympic gold medalist and former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion retired from MMA at UFC 323 in December 2025 following a four-fight losing streak since his 2023 comeback. He has remained active in combat sports through Real American Freestyle, defeating Urijah Faber via technical fall at RAF 06 in February before an injury scrapped a planned April return against former UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili. A boxing match would represent yet another chapter for the 37-year-old, who had been expected to return to the RAF mats before the reported change of direction.
