Cejudo Reacts To Figueiredo’s Win At UFC Norfolk
On Saturday, February 29, Deiveson Figueiredo knocked out Joseph Benavidez in the main event of UFC Norfolk. On the line was the vacant UFC Flyweight Championship. Due to Figueiredo not making weight for the fight, however, the title remained vacant.
According to UFC Bantamweight Champion Henry Cejudo, he is still the champion. Cejudo (15-2) made it a point to post on social media his reaction to the fight.
“It’s all my gold! #andstill“

Relinquishing the belt to focus on the Bantamweight Title, the start of the fight signified Cejudo’s reign was over. He beat Demetrious Johnson for the belt in a controversial split decision victory at UFC 227, only defending it once against T.J. Dillashaw.
The loss was Benavidez’s third attempt at the Flyweight TItle. The loss ended a three-fight win streak. This was the first time Figueiredo missed weight for a fight. He is now currently on a three-fight win streak. It is unknown what will happen to the Flyweight Title now that the belt is still vacant.
“Triple C” is set to face Jose Aldo at UFC 250 for the Bantamweight Title in Ginasio do Ibirapuera on May 9.
