Cerrone Unconcerned About McGregor Fight

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone only hopes that a win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 238 will lead to a title shot, with no concerns about a potential fight with Conor McGregor.

Cerrone and McGregor had exchanges following the win “Cowboy” had over Alexander Hernandez at UFC Brooklyn in January. It appeared as if the two would fight at some point this summer, but negotiations fell through quickly after McGregor accepted nothing less than a main event slot.

Cerrone would instead go on to defeat Al Iaquinta in the UFC Ottawa main event last month, giving him three straight wins. He’ll now face Ferguson, who makes his UFC return for the first time since UFC 229 in October, in a highly-anticipated lightweight bout.

And Cerrone says he’s solely focused on a title around his waist, not a fight with McGregor.

“Conor’s had his shot, sit your ass down now [expletive],” Cerrone said. “[I’ll] take the belt.”
