Chad Mendes Earned More Money In BKFC Debut Than Time In UFC

Chad Mendes is known as the guy who served one of the most challenging rounds to Conor McGregor. Even though he suffered defeat, he had an amazing first and second round against the Notorious.

Mendes had an impressive run in the UFC, but hasn’t fought there since 2018. He, however, made a return to the sport last week at BKFC: KnuckleMania 2 where he picked up a TKO win over Joshua Alvarez.

He said he made more in his BKFC debut than fighting against McGregor

“Yeah, it’s true [I made more than my time in the UFC]. Including Conor. Close to that, but yeah, more.” said Mendes.

“I feel blessed to finally have an opportunity like this to go in there and do something that I find as fun as it is, and doing something I love and getting that amount of money to do it.”

“Ultimately, like I said, I’m still under UFC contract, I still have three fights on that deal… It’s so awesome to see them doing that (allowing him to fight for another promotion), I mean, I honestly expected a ‘hell no’.”

The last time Mendes fought in the UFC was at UFC 232 against current featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.

He has 18 professional victories and five defeats inside the cage. He earned nine victories in the UFC and suffered five defeats, but all of them were against champions.

He suffered defeat twice against Jose Aldo, who was the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter and featherweight king until McGregor dethroned him.

Another loss he has against McGregor, who is the first-ever double champion in the UFC, after that, he was defeated by Frankie Edgar in 2015, who is former lightweight champion of the UFC.
