Chael Sonnen Facing 11 Battery Charges
Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen has been hit with nearly a dozen charges from a December incident in Las Vegas.
Sonnen faces 10 misdemeanor battery charges and one felony charge of battery by strangulation, according to online court records. He will make his initial court appearance on April 27 in Las Vegas.
The alleged incident happened on December 18 at the Luxor Hotel and Casino.
Sonnen initially faced five misdemeanor battery counts for reported altercations with five separate individuals. The former fight had the charges “dismissed by the court without prejudice,” but it was possible the charges could be refiled at a later date.
Sonnen was never arrested or put in jail, police told MMA Fighting, but he was issued citations and escorted off the property.
The 44-year-old has not fought since 2019, but has been an analyst for several stations including UFC and Bellator.
Sonnen has yet to comment on the charges.
