Chandler Takes Back Title At Bellator 212

It would take all five rounds, but Michael Chandler would reclaim the Bellator lightweight title from Brent Primus at Bellator 212 inside the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu.

Chandler would sweep the scorecards with a unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45) .

Primus came out aggressive, throwing a lot of kicks but Chandler was patient, setting up a takedown with a big right hand midway through the first round, allowing Chandler to control the rest of the round.

In the second, Primus dropped Chandler with a strong jab and then jumped former champion, nearly taking the win with a rear naked choke, but Chandler would defend the hold and re-assert himself into top-position.

Chandler would ward off Primus in the third, and control the now former champion with takedowns in rounds four and five, to regain his title.

In the co-main event of the evening, Javy Ayala would stop a two fight losing streak and land a second round tap out via strikes win over Frank Mir.
