Chandler Vs. Henderson II Set For Japan

At UFC 231, Frank Mir and Roy Nelson faced off for the first time since 2011. In both bouts, Mir won via unanimous decision. Bellator will look to repeat another classic bout, one that helped put them on the map.

At Bellator’s Japan show inside the Saitama Super Arena on December 28/29, Benson Henderson will face off against Michael Chandler. The fight was announced during the Bellator 231 broadcast. It the first time both will be facing one another since Chandler defeated Henderson via split decision back at Bellator 165.

Henderson (28-8) is on a four-fight win streak, recently beating Myles Jury via unanimous decision at Bellator 227. Following the loss to Chandler for the Bellator Lightweight Championship, the former UFC Lightweight Champion lost to Patricky Freire. Now on a record like no other, Henderson is hoping a win can bring him back into title contention.

Following the win against Henderson, increasing his win streak to four, Chandler (19-5) lost the Lightweight Title to Brent Primus at Bellator NYC. Since then, Chandler won three in a row, including a Lightweight Title rematch against Primus, before losing the title again to Patricio Freire at Bellator 221. Chandler has been with Bellator since 2010, where he beat Scott Stapp via TKO at Bellator 31.

Chandler v. Henderson II will be the co-main event of the RIZIN-partnered card. The main event will be Fedor Emelianenko v. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Tickets to Bellator Japan go on sale on November 3.
