Chandler-Yamauchi Set For Bellator 192

Michael Chandler is set to return to action, however, his next fight won’t be for the Bellator lightweight title.

Chandler will meet Goiti Yamauchi at Bellator 192 on January 20, MMA Fighting has learned.

Chandler and Yamauchi join a card headlined by Douglas Lima vs. Rory MacDonald for the Bellator welterweight title, and will take place at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif.

Chandler fell to Brent Primus in June, costing him the lightweight title. The fight at Bellator NYC saw Chandler sprain his foot in the first round of the fight, leading to his defeat. While Chandler may have hoped to receive an immediate rematch, but ended up not being the fight on the card. Prior to the somewhat controversial loss, Chandler had won four fights in a row.

Yamauchi walks into the Forum with a three fight win streak and hoping to make his biggest fight to date the fourth.

The event is also expected to feature a first-round matchup in the Bellator heavyweight tournament, with Quinton Jackson vs. Chael Sonnen currently being discussed.
