Charles Oliveira Dominates Max Holloway In UFC 326 BMF Title Fight

On Saturday night inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Charles Oliveira found victory in his five-round UFC 326 main event battle for the BMF title against Max Holloway with a heavily one-sided decision.

Many had speculated that Oliveira could use his size and grappling prowess to dictate the momentum of the fight, and the Brazilian did just that right from the start of the first round.

After the first two rounds, which almost identically featured Oliveira taking the fight to the ground and securing control of his opponent’s back, it was clear Holloway would need to keep things on the feet. But that was easier said than done, as Oliveira scored five takedowns on thirteen attempts. Four of the takedowns secured resulted in ‘Do Bronxs’ controlling the action from the top position, while attempting submissions, for the remainder of the rounds they took place in.

Throughout the match, Oliveira attempted to submit Holloway on four separate occasions, and despite the discomfort in each scenario, somehow the Hawaiian managed to survive. Additionally, the Brazilian recorded over 20 minutes of ground control time through the 25-minute matchup, which speaks to Holloway’s submissive defense to survive against such a threatening grappling opponent for such an extended period.

After the announcement of Oliveira’s unanimous decision win, both fighters paid their respects to one another, and even posed for pictures in the octagon with their families.
