Charles Oliveira Says He’s Open To Future Boxing Match

Newly crowned lightweight king Charles Oliveira wants to taste his abilities in the boxing ring.

Lots of top fighters and celebrities have tested their skills in the ring while also making in a good amount of money boxing bouts. Oliveira wants to use his reputation as the best lightweight for this moment and earn extra revenue.

“It’s something that makes money. It’s something that’s coming up cool, and all MMA fighters are doing it. So, everything I propose to do, I do very well, I dedicate myself 100 percent. And who knows, an opportunity to do a boxing match may arise. I think I would like to do it,” Oliveira said.

The median salary for a professional boxer is $51,370. In Manny Pacquiao’s last fight against Keith Thurman, he was guaranteed about $10 million to Thurman’s $2.5 million.

The last time Oliveira fought was against Michael Chandler at UFC 262. He defeated his opponent via TKO at the very beginning of the second round. He is more likely to defend his title against No. 1 ranked lightweight contender Dustin Poirier, who defeated The Irish man, Conor McGregor twice in a row.

Still, this hasn’t seemed to stop him from thinking about boxing matches.

His base sport is Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which he is an expert in, but while competing in the UFC, he learned Muay Thai.

“… I don’t have any name in mind, but if the opportunity arose, I would definitely like to do it,” Oliveira added.
