Charles Oliveira Vs. Michael Chandler Was Best Fight Of 2021 Second Quarter

Charles Oliveira never lost sight of the vision.

His vision included the UFC lightweight gold being wrapped around his waist, and that came true on May 15. The action-packed fight was arguably the best fight of the second quarter of 2021.

It took Oliveira 28 octagon appearances to earn a title shot for the vacant belt – after Khabib Nurmagomedov vacated it — against Michael Chandler.

In the first round, Oliveira dropped Chandler with a leg kick early on. Chandler went head first while Oliveira tried taking him down. Oliveira thought he had him, but Chandler escaped.

It then took Oliveira just 19 seconds to hit Chandler with a counter left and finished him via KO/TKO.

Oliveira was overwhelmed with emotions when he was crowned the new lightweight champion.
