Jermell Charlo is targeting fights with David Benavidez, Caleb Plant, and Terence Crawford once he faces Canelo Alvarez.
The American will attempt to dethrone Canelo and claim his undisputed titles at 168 to become undisputed in a second division.
Although he is the heavy underdog going into the fight, Charlo already has his sights set on the future post-Canelo.
And those opponents highlighted would appease the fans. Benavidez has been wanting Canelo ever since he became the WBC interim champion. Therefore, facing Charlo would be the next best thing if he does beat Alvarez.
Meanwhile, a fight with Caleb Plant also makes sense since the latter did slap his brother, Jermall Charlo, following the Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford weigh-in.
As for a fight with Crawford, the latter has expressed his desire to face Charlo in an attempt to become a three-division champion.
And their interactions during the Spence fight, where Crawford told Charlo, ‘you’re next,’ have only increased the hype surrounding it.
“I’ve got more work to do, but a win over Canelo will stamp me in one of the greats. Then I take his belts, and then I got to fight the ‘Mexican monster’ [David Benavidez and I got to fight the Caleb Plants, and I got to fight all the big boys, right,” Charlo
But when it comes to Crawford, Charlo is open to fighting him provided that a fight can be made in a timely manner.
And unlike the negotiations with Spence, Charlo is not keen on hanging around. After all, Jermell is 33 and targeting mega fights in the latter parts of his career which is why time is of the essence.
“I’ll do everything I can for you fans to make sure that fight happens. So, if Crawford comes up to my weight division or wherever I’m at.
“If we meet halfway and got good negotiations because I don’t got time to be playing them games that he did with Errol taking forever and real long. I ain’t hip for that.
“I’m going to fight, and I want to keep fighting and get in. I want to present more fights for you guys, and I’m holding it down for the Charlos, right? So, I’m going to keep going,” Charlo
