Charlo Promises A Knockout On June 9th
Jermell Charlo and Austin Trout met for the first time prior to their June 9th meeting at the Staples Center, on Tuesday at a media conference in Los Angeles.
Charlo and Trout are the co-main event for the anticipated rematch between Abner Mares and Leo Santa Cruz, airing on Showtime.
Charlo, who will put his WBC super welterweight title on the line against the former world champion, Trout, claimed that he and his twin brother Jermall have only one goal for every fight going forward.
“Me and my brother talk the talk and we walk the walk,” Charlo told reporters on Tuesday.
“From this point on in our careers, we’re going full force and it’s going to be nothing but knockouts.
Trout faced Jermell’s twin brother, Jermall, in 2016 in Las Vegas, and Jermell feels that fight doesn’t matter because “we’ve been growing and changing” with every fight.
Trout told reporters that while he respects Charlo, but said to not expect the same result of when he fought Jermall in 2016.
“The Charlos act similar, but they’re not the same and they definitely don’t fight the same. I think the difference in this fight is that I’ve been busier leading up to it,” Trout claimed on Tuesday.
“We started camp already 50 percent of the way there because of my recent activity and it’s allowed me to work even more on game plan. We’re going to be prepared for everything he has. It’s going to add up to my victory.
