Jermell Charlo received a massive source of support ahead of his undisputed super middleweight fight against Canelo Alvarez on September 30th, 2023.
Charlo aims to become undisputed in a second-weight class and join Terence Crawford as the only other two-time-undisputed champion. And given the massive task ahead of him, Charlo will need all the help he can get. The fight will require him to move up two weight divisions and fight above 154 for the first time in his career against a four-division world champion. With that being said, Charlo got a send-off in his hometown (Houston) at the University of Houston and Sam Houston State University’s American football game. During the course of that process, Charlo held a boxing session for the Stafford Boys & Girls Club prior to the game. Thereafter, Charlo spoke a few words on the field in a presentation in front of the crowd.

“Houston means so much to me and it’s extremely motivating to feel their support before I step into the biggest fight of my career. Me and my brother Jermall have been putting on for our city for so many years, and on Saturday, September 30 I know I’m gonna have Houston in my corner. I can’t wait to represent what this city is all about,” Charlo stated
