Charlos Tell Promoters They’re A Package Deal

If you’re a promoter looking to sign Jermell Charlo or Jermall Charlo alone, you may not have much luck

Jermell, who is days away from defending his WBC super welterweight title against Austin Trout, confirmed that Top Rank, Golden Boy, and Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing USA, have offered him a promotional deal. And while he didn’t confirm which promoters offered him contracts, he did confirm if he signed, it wouldn’t be alone.

“I turned pro without my brother, and I’m not gonna lie to you, I lived with that for a long time. You know, they didn’t never sign my brother, Charlo claimed.” So at the end of the day, it built a lot of animosity towards each other. It built a separation and a difference. Right now, we are the closest that we could be, and only thing I gotta do is try to make me a family or some s***, because my brother got a beautiful family and I be gettin’ jealous sometimes. That’s tight. You know what I’m saying?

“But other than that, I’m excited about sticking together. Separating and trying to sign with somebody else and then somebody else sign, you know, like I said, they didn’t do that at the beginning. And I’m glad that we learned from that. We didn’t even have the same managers at the beginning. So, you know, now we’re at where we at in our life, I definitely don’t wanna separate from my brother in boxing. You know what I’m saying? We’re going to the top together.”

Jermell Charlo claims that there are three offers on the table, and is excited at the idea of a multi-million dollar deal.

“I’m like, ‘Whoa!’ That’s gonna have to make somebody else work harder if they really know what it is, Charlo claimed this week.” Shout out to everybody that’s been throwing out these numbers. They keep saying two [offers], but it’s actually been three. And before that last, third one that people don’t really know about, that was the first one that came. So I’m super-excited about it. Golden Boy has made offers, Top Rank has made offers, Eddie Hearn has made offers. They’ve been nice offers.

“But right now, I actually had something in my mind that I think I wanted to do. I wanted to get with a strong individual behind boxing and create this own Lions Only Promotions, and see if they can buy into that first. And make us get some fighters around here that’s gonna rep this Lions Only and that’s gonna train hard. Like, not to criticize Mayweather or anybody, but he built a team, but they was all losing and getting they a** torn up. And that wasn’t looking good for Mayweather. We wanna see if we can kinda like put something together where we can get some real animals in here with us. You know, and do this not just me and my brother, but do this alongside of some other killers.”
