Charr Ready For Return
While Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder hold all of the belts to make an “undisputed” champion, another world heavyweight champion has been sitting on the sidelines.
Since winning the WBA “regular” title in November 2017, Manuel Charr has yet to return to the ring due to promotional, legal, and drug testing issues.
The drug testing issue that popped up early in 2019 nearly saw Jarrell Miller fight for the WBA crown, as Charr was found to have an adverse finding in a VADA administrated test. The issue resulted in a suspension by the WBA, which would be lifted by the organization with Charr remaining their “regular” champion/
“We are about to tell you where my next fight will take place,” Charr wrote on Instagram. “Just like you want me to get back in the ring and present my performance as reigning world champion, I have no bigger wish!”
Charr was ordered to take a rescheduled and legally mandated bout against Fres Oquendo, for the fight to fall through for a second time.
A similar situation came to pass when Charr attempted to fight the “interim” “regular” champion Trevor Bryan, as Bryan’s promoter Don King has not finalized a deal with Charr.
One name that may be lining up for a fight with Charr is Dillian Whyte, who told Sky Sports: “That’s a great fight. Charr would be a good one.”
