Chavez: This Is The Most Important Fight Of My Life
As reported last week, a fight between former middleweight world champions Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Daniel Jacobs is in the works for December 14th.
The card, which would feature a super flyweight fight between Juan Francisco Estrada and Khalid Yafai, is close to reality according to Chavez Jr.
“We are close [to a deal], most of the important details have already been agreed upon. I am sure positive that they believe that I don’t have much left to give in boxing, but they will be in for a surprise in December. A few months ago nothing appeared on the radar and now I am facing the most important fight of my life,” Chavez said to ESPN Deportes.
That night will see stiff competition from Top Rank, as Terence Crawford is alleged to return to Madison Square Garden to defend his WBO welterweight title against mandatory challenger Egidijus Kavaliauskas and Teofimo Lopez getting his first world title shot against IBF lightweight king Richard Commey.
If signed for a December fight alleged to by Boxing Scene to go down in either Las Vegas or California, it marks only the second time in two-years that Chavez has stepped in the ring, the last being a knockout win over Evert Bravo, and Jacobs’ first appearance since losing to Canelo Alvarez on May 4th.
