CHECK OUT: Terri Harper-Natasha Jonas ‘Fight Camp’ II Weigh-In Results
The second week of action for “Matchroom Fight Camp” is almost here. Taking place in Brentwood, Essex in the backyard of Matchroom’s U.K. offices on August 7, a huge title fight is expected to take place.
The main event will be Terri Harper defending her WBC and IBO Super-Featherweight Titles against Natasha Jonas. Before that, the weigh-ins took place.
Harper (10-0) signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing in 2019, making her debut against Viviane Obenauf that November. She beat Obenauf via unanimous decision to retain the IBO Super-Featherweight Title she won from Nozipho Bell. In the biggest fight of her career so far, Harper beat Eva Wahlstrom this February to win the WBC Super-Featherweight Title.
Jonas turned professional in 2017 and had her six-fight win streak snapped by Obenauf. As a result, she lost the WBA International Super-Featherweight title. She has since won three in a row, last beating Bianka Majlath. With an impressive amateur record, Jonas believes if she gives her all she can stop the momentum of Harper.
“I had an extra three weeks to prepare. I definitely feel like the underdog in this fight judging by the bookies and a little bit of social media,” Jonas stated, via World Boxing News. “I think anyone that knows about boxing knows that you can’t write a person off just on one performance. I know I’ve done everything that I could possibly do in this camp and more. I’ve given 100% in every training session. I believe I can do it. Power is something I’ve always had, I have a good knockout percentage, I know that I carry power. If I land cleanly, she will go.”
